ABOUT CAPITAL DOCTOR

Capital Doctor adopts a ‘team’ approach and facilitates communication between all healthcare professionals. Top teaching hospital specialists provide the latest guidelines and essential information within any given therapeutic area. This information is invariably aided and assisted with support pieces from other important parties such as GPs, nurses, patient-cantered organisations, pharmaceutical companies and other healthcare providers. Our magazines are also regional and so reflect the local requirement in a manner and context that is relevant to daily working lives.

Capital Doctor is the only quality magazine dedicated to all aspects of healthcare provision in London. Recent healthcare policies have all stressed the need for healthcare providers to become more integrated.

Our readers have confirmed that the content in Capital Doctor regularly influences their purchasing and prescribing decisions. The London area accounts for approximately one third of the community pharmaceutical market, and over three quarters of the private sector spend. This makes it the single most valuable healthcare sector in the UK.

Capital Doctor believes that the delivery of best patient care is dependent on genuine teamwork. From a strategic point of view, this means the breaking down of traditional boundaries between the different clinical, managerial and patient groups and providing a platform of communication that can share information on best practice, at all levels in a format that is relevant to the people involved in this essential process.

London is a world opinion leader on healthcare and boasts some of the best research and service delivery to be found. However, there are naturally also areas of practice and service delivery that need to be improved. We assist in this process by sharing information on best practice. Patients are at the heart of the process and our leading London Consultants, many of whom are active in both the major teaching hospitals and in private practice head-up the medical education. In addition to their important academic roles within the NHS, many of the Consultants on our editorial panels also practice in London’s major private hospitals and clinics. It is this level of combination of work that provides an unparalleled insight and makes London healthcare unique.

The NHS in London
NHS service delivery in London is overseen by NHS London whose role it is to be “responsible for ensuring that the capital's health services deliver world-class care”. Service delivery is divided into the following categories:

The 11 foundation trusts (comprising 7 acute foundation trusts and 4 mental health foundation trusts) in London have greater freedom to manage their own affairs and improve services. The NHS London covers 32 London Boroughs with a population of approximately 7.2 million and rising. London NHS is also increasingly involving the private sector in the provision of service delivery.
